The WBTWORLD portal has been created in the frame of the Leonardo da Vinci pilot project Web Based Trainers’ Wide Open Resource for Training and Development (ref. RO/02/B/F/PP 141053), published in 8 European languages (En, Ro, Bg, Cz, Es, Gr, Fi, Hu), to promote the use of ICT in education and training and to offer a useful support for developing the Web Based Trainers’ competencies.

The portal is based on two main sections: Informative Section and Interactive Training Section

Informative section


It has been divided into areas and topics. The area entries contain a short general presentation of the aim and structure of the current area. Each topic entry has a specific outline, according to the information structure developed inside.

E-Learning in Europe

  • an overview of the most relevant recent information and findings in the fields of e-learning, both at European and national level (of the project participating countries). Through its informational content (in the concrete form of the good practices in e-learning at European level, articles and studies, presentation of new technologies in the field, etc.) the WBT have the possibility of continually updating their knowledge and enriching their experience.

Internet facilities that help the WBT community cohesion (forum, chat, weblog)

  • permanent forums dedicated to discussion and the exchange of experiences in several topics like: Web-based trainers' competencies, Web-based trainers' needs, Good practices in e-learning, E-learning and disabled people, etc.

Interactive Training Section

Accessible through the link E-Courses of the WBT World site, this section contains:

  • internet platform built in the frame of the project for supporting the WBT courses developed by the project partners

On-line courses

  • 2 course packages (16 titles), implemented on the WBT e-learning platform, covering 2 set of competences: technical (aiming at developing skills for using Internet as a pedagogical tool) and pedagogical (aiming at developing skills for using best pedagogical approaches and methods for web-based courses)

Course outline

  • presentation (title, authors, objectives, level, number of modules, competencies to be developed, and table of content) for the 16 WBT courses

Competences self-evaluation questionnaire for WBT

  • meant to help the WBT to evaluate their competencies, to discover their strengths and weaknesses, and to act consequently; several courses will be recommended in order to satisfy the specific needs
Demo-course
  • free access interactive course “How to build a course on web”, using the instruments and the facilities of the WBT platform, as a model for building and implementation of other training courses
